Taohe Folk Culture Park

The past and the present come together in a very real way in Taohe Folk Culture Park in Taolingou village, in Yangquan city, located in the eastern part of North China's Shanxi province.

Villagers of Taolingou village selected 108 local featured traditional industries in six counties in eastern Shanxi from the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) to the Republic of China period (1912-1949) as a theme, to recreate and excavate a series of large-scale stone carvings.

The stone carving series have been placed on walls in every corner of Taohe Folk Culture Park, allowing visitors to fully experience the charms of eastern Shanxi's materials production and folk customs while visiting the park.

There are 17 brick carving walls covering a total of 175 square meters in Taohe Folk Culture Park. The brick carvings mainly depict rare birds and fabulous animals, trees, flowers and auspicious patterns, conveying hopes for a better life expressed by the people of eastern Shanxi.
