Yangquan city initiated the construction of a national-level pilot project for collaborative innovation in pollution reduction and carbon emission reduction in the Yangquan High-tech Industrial Development Zone on Jan 16.

The entire project will span a period of three years.

During this period, the Yangquan High-tech Industrial Development Zone will establish an integrated internet platform that will utilize advanced technologies to interconnect power, oil and natural gas management networks. This platform focuses on industrial energy conservation, energy efficiency in buildings, and energy conservation in the transportation sector.

The zone will promote the construction of "zero carbon" and "power-grid-load-energy storage" projects. It will also encourage enterprises to enhance their capabilities for green and low-carbon development, and provide support for the city's green and low-carbon development.

On the same day, 100 electric heavy-duty vehicles were delivered to the city. Once in operation, these vehicles are expected to reduce nitrogen oxide emission by 37 metric tons, particulate matter emission by 4.09 tons, and carbon dioxide emission by 11,800 tons annually compared to diesel heavy-duty trucks. These trucks have environmental and socio-economic benefits, while also reducing transportation costs.
