Yangquan to see 3 venues upgraded to national 4A-rated attractions
Three tourist attractions in Yangquan city are set to be upgraded to national 4A-rated ones, according to a recent announcement by Shanxi Department of Culture and Tourism.
At present, there are eight national 4A-rated tourist attractions in Yangquan. The three that are now due to be upgraded are Xiaohe Pingmei scenic area, Yangquan Memory·1947 Cultural Park, and North China Yifeng Ecological Park.
Xiaohe Pingmei scenic area, located in Chengqu district, is the ancestral hometown of modern writer Shi Pingmei. The scenic area boasts a rich collection of cultural relics and heritage, with a total of 34,630 square meters of historical buildings from the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, as well as the Republic of China period (1912-1949), and 178 traditional courtyards. It is regarded as the most representative example of courtyard dwellings in northern China.
Yangquan Memory·1947 Cultural Park has introduced a new model for urban renewal and industrial heritage preservation in the city's old urban area. Through the perspectives of local people, their language, and the city's overall style, the park tells the stories and history of Yangquan. It has gained recognition among local residents and tourists from elsewhere.
North China Yifeng Ecological Park is a core project of the transformation and development of Shidian Coal Co in Yuxian county. It is a nationally recognized demonstration park for integrated industrial development, encompassing agriculture, animal husbandry, commercial trade, tourism, and hotel and catering services.
