Yangquan accelerates development into gigabit city
Yangquan city recently issued a work plan to accelerate its development into a gigabit city, fully supporting the growth of the local digital economy.
According to the plan, by the end of 2023, all urban households in the city will be covered by a gigabit fiber-optic network; over 95 percent of key locations will have access to the 5G network; 5G users will account for over 50 percent of the total network users; and innovative 5G applications as well as a gigabit optical network will be in place.
To achieve these goals, Yangquan will focus on optimizing the development of infrastructure, promoting the implementation of policies covering the relocation of communication facilities, and facilitating the integration of traditional industries with 5G and gigabit optical network applications.
Efforts will be made to expand the coverage of the gigabit fiber-optic network, promote joint infrastructure projects, strengthen network security capabilities, and encourage the upgrading of the high-speed fiber broadband network.
For communication facilities that need to be modified or relocated due to urban construction or planning adjustments, the developers and owners of such facilities can negotiate for better compensation, facility protection, and site reconstruction.
Collaborative innovation between basic telecommunications companies and industry units will be encouraged to accelerate the applications of 5G and gigabit optical network in areas such as ultra-high-definition video, augmented reality and virtual reality.
In the manufacturing sector, collaborative innovation for 5G and gigabit optical networks will be promoted, targeting various application scenarios and production processes.
In terms of smart city development, the integration of 5G and gigabit optical networks with the education, healthcare, and tourism industries will be promoted, exploring diverse application scenarios to improve people's lives.
