Chengqu included in provincial night economy list
Chengqu district in Yangquan city, North China's Shanxi province was recently included in the Shanxi provincial night economy pilot cities list.
Since the beginning of this year, Chengqu district has made every effort to create a night economy based on the development of local business circles and focused on the construction of eight night markets.
The district's Xinglong Street Night Market and "Yangquan Memory 1947" Cultural Park set examples of how to boost the development of the night-time economy.
Xinglong Street Night Market was one of the first night consumption gathering areas built in Chengqu. It is home to more than 200 shops selling over 30 kinds of local snacks and more than 60 kinds of snacks from outside the city.
Businesses operating in the night market can write off consumption coupons issued by the city government.
Since the opening of the night market, it has effectively boosted sales of stores along the street. For example, the daily sales of Xinglong Department Store and men's clothing retailer HLA have exceeded 300,000 yuan.
The "Yangquan Memory 1947" Cultural Park, a provincial-level night-time cultural and tourism consumption gathering area, held a night-time food and music festival in June this year.
It adopted a cooperative business model of revenue sharing and no rent to attract more than 20 restaurants and a number of recreational projects in and around the city to set up operations.
During the festival, the night market had a passenger flow of 50,000 people, making it a good place for surrounding residents to relax and entertain themselves.
The success of the night market has led to the expansion of business services, cultural performances, fitness, leisure, bookstores and libraries in the district.
There are now fourteen 24-hour convenience stores in the district.
Moving forward, Chengqu district will continue to encourage and support large-scale commercial complexes, core business circles' stores and brand enterprises to launch night-time consumption activities, optimize the night-time shopping experience and boost the night-time economy.
