Yangquan's economy sees steady growth in Jan-May
The main economic indicators of Yangquan in North China's Shanxi province maintained steady growth From January to May, according to the city's statistics bureau.
During this period, industrial production ran smoothly, the consumer market gradually recovered, and fiscal revenue and expenditures and total foreign trade value increased steadily.
The added value of industrial enterprises above designated size – those with annual revenue of 20 million yuan ($2.99 million) or more – increased 9.4 percent year-on-year, 6.1 percentage points higher than the national average.
The added value of industrial strategic emerging industries grew 22.5 percent, accounting for 8.3 percent of the total added value of industrial enterprises above designated size, while the retail sales of consumer goods above designated size reached 2.63 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.2 percent.
The retail sales of consumer goods in urban areas increased 3.5 percent to 1.9 billion yuan, while those in rural areas increased 6.3 percent to 730 million yuan.
The city's general public budget revenue surged 70.2 percent to 3.8 billion yuan, ranking fifth in the province. The general public budget expenditure was 5.44 billion yuan, up 6.8 percent year on year.
From January to May, the city's consumer prices rose 1.4 percent year-on-year.
In addition, the city's imports and exports grew 43.6 percent to 540.96 million yuan.
