Yangquan city's agricultural specialties and cultural creative products are shining at the 7th China (Shanxi) Agricultural Products Trade Expo, which opened in the city of Jinzhong in North China's Shanxi province on Sept 23. 

At the four-day expo, Yangquan set up a nearly 500-square-meter exhibition area divided into three sections: intensive processing of agricultural products, intangible cultural heritage, and rural revitalization. 

The achievements of Yangquan in promoting the development of featured industries and carrying out rural revitalization have been showcased at the exhibition area, which also serves as a promotion platform for the city's agricultural products, regional public agricultural brands, functional agricultural products, and intangible cultural creative products.

Forty-three companies based in Yangquan have been exhibiting nearly 800 products, including cereals, functional food, traditional Chinese medicine, brewed beverages, and livestock products.

Among exhibits, functional agricultural products accounted for about one-fifth and have been favored by consumers and bulk goods buyers. 

Shanxi Benmaosheng Agricultural Technology Development Co, one of Yangquan's exhibitors, had over 20 orders for functional agricultural products at the expo on the first day alone. 

"Functional agricultural products have become our main procurement this year. We plan to introduce Yangquan's functional agricultural products to Shuozhou so that more consumers can eat and use these products," said Gao Xixi, a buyer from the city of Shuozhou in northern Shanxi.

In recent years, Yangquan has been promoting the supply-side structural reform of agriculture, prioritizing the development of functional agriculture and food safety, and promoting the development of the agricultural industry and functional agricultural brands.

As a result, a large number of local green and functional agricultural products have been cultivated and promoted, according to Ren Haixin, director of the Yangquan Agricultural Ecology and Resources Protection Center.
