Yangquan launches rural architectural design contest
The first College Student Rural Revitalization (Yangquan) Architectural Design Competition was recently officially launched in Beijing.
The competition is co-sponsored by the talent office of the Yangquan municipal Party committee and the School of Architecture at Tsinghua University.
It is meant to further government-university cooperation, building a bridge between Yangquan and young talent at universities and exploring ways to promote rural revitalization.
With the tagline "rural construction integrating youth intelligence, talent revitalizing and strengthening the collective economy", the competition will feature five typical villages in Yangquan that are closely related to the development and growth of the new rural collective economy for creative design.
After the competition, the instructor team will help the winning teams optimize and upgrade their creative design works, help outstanding creative design works be more effective in Yangquan, and maximize the value of idle construction resources in the city's villages.
Currently, more than 190 young architects on nearly 100 teams from more than 30 domestic universities, including Tsinghua University, Hong Kong University, Tongji University, the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and several overseas universities such as the Tokyo Institute of Technology and RMIT University have signed up for the competition since online registration opened on Aug 24.
