A ceremony celebrating the introduction of a slew of new construction projects took place in Yangquan city in North China's Shanxi province on March 22.

It's the third time this year that the city has held such a ceremony. A total of 10 project contracts with a total investment of 8.33 billion yuan ($1.28 billion) were signed, involving the new energy, new materials, new-generation information technology, energy saving and environmental protection, culture, tourism and healthcare sectors.

A new 100,000-square-meter factory in Yuxian Economic and Technological Development Zone broke ground during the ceremony. The project, Xiushui Innovation-Entrepreneurship Intelligent Manufacturing Park, has a total investment of 296 million yuan and will be completed in 12 months.

The event was an important measure for Yangquan to promote project investment and construction and boost the high-quality development of the local industrial economy. 

As of March 20, the city had signed 22 project contracts with a total investment of 12.46 billion yuan.

A total of 68 new projects with a total investment of 27.3 billion yuan have started construction, while 79 projects with a total investment of 52.9 billion yuan have resumed construction. Also, 25 projects with a total investment of 1.7 billion yuan have been put into production.
