Yangquan marks World Consumer Rights Day with educational event

A promotional event themed around World Consumer Rights Day took place in Yangquan city on March 15. 

Focusing on guarding safety and facilitating consumption, the event invited staff members of market regulation, communications and food and drug departments of the local municipal government to introduce laws related to consumer rights protection. The departments set up consultation desks, handled complaints and distributed related publicity materials.

Yangquan has improved its consumer rights protection mechanism for years to create a better consumption environment for residents. 

In 2020, the city published consumer complaints, integrated the consumption service hotlines and promoted the establishment of consumer rights protection service stations. It also conducted special rectification of key consumer infringement issues in areas such as food, medicine, quality supervision, price and intellectual property rights. 

Various rights protection initiatives have further improved consumers' awareness of rights protection. 

In 2020, the number of consumer consultations, complaints and reports increased significantly. The city received and handled 138.5 percent more consumer consultations, complaints and reports than the previous year.
