The memorial area for the Hundred Regiments Battle was built in 1995 and is located in the Shinao Mountain scenic area, 5 kilometers southwest of Yangquan city's downtown area.

The Hundred Regiments Battle was a large-scale, morale-boosting offensive by 105 Chinese regiments in 1940. It was the biggest attack led by the Communist Party of China against the enemy during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45).

The memorial area includes one main monument facing south from the top of Shinao Mountain, three auxiliary monuments, one large sculpture, two inscription monuments and beacon towers. The entire memorial complex covers an area of 1.67 hectares.

Around the monuments are various pavilions for tourists to rest and an expansive wooded area.
