A culture and tourism festival in Chengqu district in Yangquan city in North China's Shanxi province opened with great fanfare in the local village of Xiaohe on Aug 19.

The five-day festival is divided into five sections: appreciating the beautiful scenery of the early autumn, exploring the culture of ancient villages, enjoying healthy and delicious food and exploring and touching folk customs.

More than 20 cultural and tourism events -- such as art shows, rural basketball invitational competitions, calligraphy and photography exhibitions and a cultural creative fair -- are currently ongoing, showcasing what the district has to offer and its unique rural tourism resources.

In recent years, Chengqu district has been expanding its local cultural resources and building up its cultural tourism brand, to let visitors get the charms of the local culture and tourism, as well as to facilitate its economic development.
