Updated: 2020-05-18

Yangquan Coal Industry Group based in Yangquan city in North China's Shanxi province has plans to increase its industrial transformation and high-quality development.

The group would do this by advancing the environmentally friendly development and utilization of coal and the creation of a modern coal chemicals industry -- as well as innovate and commercialize unconventional natural gas, power transmission and coal-based technology this year.

In terms of the green development and utilization of coal, the group plans to promote 5G-based intelligent mining with higher safety, speed up the construction of a coal production base with the annual coal production capacity exceeding 100 million metric tons and the raise the level of advanced production capacity to over 83 percent.

The group will build gasification plants at its Jinbei Modern Coal Chemical Base in Shanxi province. It will expand nylon-6 production capacity, advance the industrialization of syngas-to-ethanol technology, construct a 600,000-ton/year slime treatment project and build the world's first dedicated science and technology innovation park featuring the development of aerogel industrial clusters.

In addition, the company plans to promote the comprehensive utilization of coalbed methane, by further constructing three coalbed methane comprehensive utilization bases in Shanxi province and establishing coalbed methane-derived projects.

Due to the city's regional location advantages and its successful coal-burning power generation and operations, Yangquan Coal Industry Group will carry out matchmaking the market of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, accelerate the construction of three thermal power plants and strengthen the local gas power generation industry.

In addition, the group will build a commercialization base for coal-based scientific and technological innovation achievements.

There are also plans for it to incubate a national key laboratory for green, clean and efficient utilization of coal. The group will establish a national technology innovation center for large-scale coal gasification and a national engineering research center for carbon dioxide capture, utilization and storage so as to explore cutting-edge technologies in the applied energy field.
