Updated: 2020-03-31

Five facilities established in the city of Yangquan -- in North China's Shanxi province -- were included in the list of the 2020 Shanxi provincial micro and small-sized enterprise innovation and entrepreneurship bases and demonstration bases, released by Shanxi Small Enterprise Development Promotion Bureau on March 25, local officials said.

To promote high-quality and innovation, Yangquan has been supporting its innovation and entrepreneurship platforms.

It has been moving to construct a better environment for innovation and entrepreneurship and speed up the development of innovation and entrepreneurship bases through government promotion, enterprise participation and social support.

Officials said the city has developed 11 provincial-level small and micro-enterprise innovation and entrepreneurship bases, one national-level demonstration base for small and micro-enterprise innovation and entrepreneurship and five provincial-level demonstration bases for small and micro-enterprise innovation and entrepreneurship over the past three years.

They said that these bases have attracted and incubated more than 600 enterprises, covering industries such as biomedicines, e-commerce, tourism development, handmade manufacturing and processing of environmentally friendly and energy-saving products -- creating jobs for more than 10,000 people.

Plans are for the city to now upgrade these bases. It will standardize their services and management and stimulate companies' enthusiasm for innovation, to drive the local industrial transformation and upgrading, according to the director of Yangquan industry and information technology bureau.
