As the only regular normal college in Yangquan city, Yangquan Teachers College (YTC) came into being in March 2010 from the integration of the Yangquan School of Education and Shanxi's Pingding Normal College. It offers 12 majors and 102 classes to 3,659 full-time students.

The YTC covers an area of 302 mu (1 mu=666.67 sq. m.) and a gross area of 127,700 sq. m. There are 285 teaching staff and 227 full-time teachers, including 83 associate professors, 29 instructors with master's degrees and 69 double-position teachers.

Since its inception, the YTC has adhered to a principle of "characteristically-running, quality-building, talents-empowered, and culturally-boosting". It has developed an exclusive program with regular normal college education as the main body flanked by teachers' continuing education and special normal education. For years, it has cultivated numerous excellent teachers for the growth of basic education and special education in provinces throughout China and especially in Shanxi.
