The Shanxi Bethune Hospital and Shanxi Medical University in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, recently jointly established the first biomedical engineering major in the province.

In modern hospital management, there is a large gap in compound and applied talent in the operation, maintenance, repair, and quality control of high-precision medical equipment.

The biomedical engineering major focuses on the integration of medical treatment and artificial intelligence, cultivating professionals to meet the development needs of China's medical and health industries, possessing knowledge and abilities in clinical medicine and engineering, and mastering the operation, use, maintenance, functional development, and quality management of modern clinical medical equipment.

The Shanxi Bethune Hospital and Shanxi Medical University will jointly promote the cultivation of biomedical engineering talent through the major.

The two sides will also standardize the management system, further medical and education coordination, and improve the quality of talent training.

This year, Shanxi Medical University will enroll 35 undergraduates in the biomedical engineering major. It will feature a tutorial system and small classes.
