The 20th Taiyuan Coal (Energy) Industrial Technology and Equipment Fair was held from April 22 to 24 in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province.

With the theme of "Intelligent Mining and Green Energy," the fair focused on displaying domestic and foreign high-end technology and equipment in the fields of coal-mining safety, 5G construction, intelligent coal mining, ecological protection in mining areas, clean and efficient energy utilization as well as energy conservation and emission reduction in the energy industry. 

It attracted more than 740 domestic and foreign enterprises, including several Fortune Global 500 enterprises, domestic large-scale coal energy enterprises, R&D institutions and key universities.

Wang Shouzhen, chairman of the Shanxi Coal Industry Association, said that the event would play an important role in accelerating the modernization and intelligent development of coal-energy equipment, technology and scientific research in Shanxi and the country at large. 

As an important energy base in China, Shanxi has accelerated the promotion of intelligent and green coal mining in recent years. At present, the province has introduced artificial intelligence, 5G communications and big data technology, and 1,000 intelligent mining work platforms will be built in 2021. 

"The market potential of Shanxi's energy technology and equipment is huge, and high-tech and sophisticated intelligent technology and equipment are urgently needed by Shanxi coal mines," said Hu Wansheng, an official of the Shanxi Energy Administration. 

He said that exhibitors at the fair should gather more coal energy technologies, equipment, capital, talent, brands and markets in open cooperation, enhance the core competitiveness of coal enterprises and promote safe, intelligent and green coal mining in Shanxi and across China. 

During the three-day fair, a summit on green and low-carbon coal industry development was held and 12 special lectures on coal energy technology and intelligence were arranged.

The annual Taiyuan Coal (Energy) Industrial Technology and Equipment Fair is hosted by the Shanxi Coal Industry Association and has been held on 20 occasions. It has developed into the province's largest comprehensive coal energy exhibition, with the number of exhibitors increasing to 740 from 89 at the beginning and turnover increasing to 2.5 billion yuan ($384.91 million) from millions.
