Yangquan witnesses high-quality development across various sectors
Yangquan in North China's Shanxi province held a special press conference on "promoting high-quality development and deepening all-round transformation" in Taiyuan, the provincial capital, on Dec 3.
In recent years, Yangquan has doubled down on efforts to construct a modern industrial system, focusing on the new drivers of transformative development.
Yangquan has been selected as one of the first provincial-level regional digital transformation promotion centers and digital economy demonstration parks. The added value of core digital economy industries in the city grew by 11.7 percent in 2023.
The city has made efforts to integrate into the Belt and Road Initiative, strengthened the construction of a modern logistics system, launched the first China-Europe freight train, and experienced a 34.7-percent growth rate in the foreign trade value in the first three quarters.
It has also accelerated 5G network construction. By 2023, it had completed the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) task of building 5G base stations and was awarded the national title of "Gigabit City" this year.
The city has also implemented an industrial digitalization demonstration project, promoting the application of "5G+smart mines" and building five digital intelligent coal mines.
Meanwhile, it has prioritized optimizing the digital ecosystem as a key focus of becoming a "smart digital city", successively introducing a series of supportive policies related to enterprise cultivation, project support, financial assistance, and talent support.
