Aug 15 marked the second National Ecology Day, and Yangquan's vibrant landscapes were on full display. The lush greenery of Shinao Mountain, the clear waters of the Taohe River, and the serene atmosphere in Nanshan Park showcased the city's ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability.
Yangquan has made significant strides in ecological preservation, implementing a comprehensive strategy that integrates land, water, and air management. The city's efforts to reduce carbon emissions, cut pollution, and enhance green spaces have improved the environment and the quality of life for its residents.
This year, Yangquan was the only city in Shanxi province to receive national recognition from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment for its exemplary work in promoting ecological health and advancing green development.

The city has also focused on river management, holding local leaders accountable for maintaining water quality and restoring ecosystems. From the rejuvenated Niangziguan Waterfall to the pristine waters of the Hutuo River, Yangquan's natural beauty is becoming more apparent every day.
Yangquan is advancing its green and low-carbon energy development. Wind and solar farms now account for over 30 percent of the city's energy production. These efforts drive the city's transformation and contribute to the national "dual carbon" goals.
