The Shanxi Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism recently released its Cool Summer Travel in Shanxi promo campaign, highlighting 100 must-visit summer destinations. Yangquan in North China's Shanxi province – was the recipient of eight scenic spots on the prestigious list.

The selected destinations included Niangziguan, or the Niangzi Pass –renowned for its historical significance and picturesque views – as well as Zang Mountain, a paradise for nature lovers.

Also receiving accolades was the Huabei Yifeng Ecological Park, which offers lush greenery and fresh air and the Dapin Hot Springs, which is regarded as being ideal for a relaxing getaway.

Other noteworthy spots were the Hongyan Ridge, the Dongzhai Longtan Canyon, Shuishen Mountain and the Shinao Mountain Forest Park.

Each of these locations are widely said to provide a unique and refreshing escape from the summer heat.
