The 2024 Yangquan Science and Technology Activity Week was launched on May 27 in Yangquan city, located in North China's Shanxi province.

During the opening ceremony, officials presented certificates to outstanding organizations from the 2023 Science Activity Week and issued appointment letters to grassroots science promoters.

In addition, the unveiling of the Yangquan Science Workers Skills Enhancement Public Training Base took place on the launch day.

This year's Science and Technology Activity Week, themed on "Promoting the Spirit of Scientists, Stimulating Innovation Across Society," erected sections at the launch event for policy promotions, exhibit boards, public services and a robot display area.

The sections highlighted significant national, provincial and municipal science policies and initiatives. They showcased Yangquan's efforts to implement innovation-driven strategies, promote science education and strengthen regional technological innovation.

Throughout the week, the Yangquan science and technology bureau – in collaboration with county and district science departments and related organizations – will host over 10 special activities.

One will celebrate the spirit of scientists and another will cover the subject of offering technological support to businesses. What's more science competitions will be held, as well as a Mysterious Earth science exhibition and there will be an activity about providing community science services. 

These activities aim to engage the interest of the public about the latest achievements in scientific innovation and the benefits of science popularization, as well as promoting community-based science activities.
