Yangquan welcomes professor from the University of Utah
From March 23 to 24, Professor Stephen Lee Walston from the University of Utah, the United States, visited Yangquan city in Shanxi province to participate in the "Shanxi-Utah Health Medicine and Disability Rehabilitation" academic exchange week.
The visit followed the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement between Yangquan and Utah in November last year. The strengthened collaboration between the two regions aims to facilitate exchanges and cooperation in the fields of culture, medical health, and disability rehabilitation.
Walston, who traveled with his wife, visited Yangquan Normal College, the Shanxi Institute of Technology, Tianyuan Academy, the ancient architectural complex of Niangzi Pass, and the Great Wall ruins. They gained a detailed understanding of the city's educational theories and practices, as well as experienced its profound historical significance.
During the exchanges, both sides shared stories revolving around family values, traditional customs, and family ethics. Through close interaction, they showcased the family culture of both sides, thus opening up new avenues for grassroots exchanges.
Walston also spoke on his experiences and practices in autistic treatment and rehabilitation with the parents of autistic children, engaging in discussions on the theories and practice of special education.
He felt Yangquan's profound family culture and unique urban charm during this visit and indicated that he will continue to promote cooperation between Utah and Yangquan in the fields of culture, medical care, health, and disability rehabilitation.
