Yangquan speeds up intelligent transportation development
Yangquan city has prioritized the transformation of intelligent road traffic management to better meet the travel needs of its residents and create a green transportation system.
As the first city in China to implement autonomous driving across its entire region, Yangquan stands out as a small and medium-sized city in North China's Shanxi province that benchmarks itself against first-tier cities in terms of autonomous driving and transport infrastructure coordination.
In Yangquan, autonomous taxis, buses, security vehicles, vending cars, cleaning vehicles, and delivery vehicles have been applied to the daily lives of its residents.
The city has scientifically formulated road transformation plans and has equipped existing traffic signal poles with cameras, radars, and pole-mounted cabinets at various intersections, transforming them into multifunctional information poles. Now, the "smart roads" not only serve autonomous vehicles but also facilitate communication and connectivity with regular vehicles.
It has also continued to advance the intelligent construction of urban public transportation. It has established and put into operation a platform for monitoring and dispatching buses and taxis. The "Yangquan Bus" mobile application, for instance, allows residents to access real-time data on the selected bus route's location, arrival time, and distance, making public transportation services more efficient and convenient.
In response to the problem of urban parking difficulties, the city has constructed an intelligent parking comprehensive management platform. This platform provides accurate parking locations for drivers, effectively resolving the traffic jams caused by lining up for parking in public areas such as shopping malls and hospitals.
The promotion of technologies such as artificial intelligence, the internet of things, and cloud computing has driven the rapid development of data integration, accelerating the application of new technologies in intelligent transportation.
As early as 2021, Yangquan took the lead in partnering with technology companies such as Baidu, Beijing Idriverplus Technology Co, and Gausium to launch the transformation of intelligent transportation infrastructure, Apollo Park, and autonomous driving service projects.
In addition, Yangquan High-tech Industrial Development Zone in the city has collaborated with other research institutes in China to explore standard regulations, testing demonstrations, and industrial promotions related to the intelligent transportation sector.
