Holiday tourism soars in Yangquan

Yangquan's culture and tourism market heated up during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday from Sept 29 to Oct 6.

Tourists looking to drive themselves and coming from Yangquan's surrounding areas were the majority, with popular destinations including Niangzi Pass, Cangshan Mountain, Yangquan Memory·1947 Cultural Park, and some rural tourist spots. 

Over the eight-day holiday, Yangquan received 482,000 visitors and generated tourism revenue of 11.31 million yuan ($889,617.60). 

The city's 16 A-rated scenic spots received 208,500 visitors and saw tourism revenue of 4.82 million yuan. The rural areas in the city received 273,500 visitors and saw 6.48 million yuan in tourism revenue.

While enjoying the wonderful holiday, local residents and tourists also appreciated the charm of traditional culture in the city. 

The city hosted 195 cultural activities involving nearly 210,000 participants, such as square dancing, mass singing events, and village night galas. 

Over 40,000 people took part in seven city-level branded cultural activities, including the 2023 National Day Intangible Cultural Heritage Carnival, a fine art exhibition, and screenings of patriotic films.
