Kuangqu district in Yangquan city, North China's Shanxi province, was recently named a provincial-level healthy district in 2021-22 by the Shanxi Health Commission.

The district has deepened reforms in its medical and health systems, improved grassroots service capabilities, and compensated for the shortage of medical resources.

In 2022, the district ensured there was at least one comprehensive hospital in each sub-district, established a 15-minute medical and health service circle, and set up six oxygen therapy areas equipped with three portable lung function testers, 32 portable oxygen cylinders (bags), 141 finger clip pulse oximeters, and five portable defibrillators.

The district's elderly-friendly medical institutions have also provided the timely and full payment of advanced-age allowances. In 2022, 549,200 yuan ($75,330) was distributed to 619 people over the age of 90, and 29,100 yuan was provided as centenarian health care fees for those over 100 years of age.

The district has formed 26 epidemic investigation teams consisting of 130 people, and conducted training on prevention and control knowledge for medical personnel, village and community cadres, and volunteers, with over 3,000 people trained, so as to comprehensively enhance their emergency response and control capabilities.

Health promotions and services have been regularly conducted in the district, which has built five health theme parks, six walking trails, and one health-themed street, and ensured that all domestic waste is treated in an eco-friendly way and all drinking water meets the required quality.

Efforts to promote people's health have been carried out in all 44 communities, 12 villages, nine hospitals, 19 primary and middle schools, 52 government departments, and 13 enterprises in the district.
