Yangquan's taekwondo athletes shine at Chengdu FISU games
Two athletes from Yangquan city in North China's Shanxi province stood out in the taekwondo event at the Chengdu FISU World University Games, which took place on July 30.
Liu Siyue, together with his teammate Liang Jie, won the gold medal in mixed pair poomsae event with the score of 7.240. It was a landmark achievement, being the first gold medal that China has won in the taekwondo event at the Chengdu FISU World University Games.
Another Yangquan-born rising star, Liu Yuqing, won the silver medal in the women's team poomsae event.
Back on May 5, 2017, Liu Yuqing won her first world championship medal in the women's youth individual traditional poomsae event at the first World Taekwondo Beach Championships. In 2019, she and her teammate claimed the gold medal in the mixed pair freestyle poomsae event in the 17 and above age group at the first World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships.
