Yangquan marches toward industrial transformation
Since the start of this year, Yangquan in North China's Shanxi province, has been working to promote an array of projects involved in the new information technology, new energy, and new material sectors to accelerate its industrial transformation.
The data shows that investment in new infrastructure projects, such as economic industrial parks, charging and swapping power stations, and energy storage, has increased by 114.3 percent, accounting for 9.8 percent of the city's investment, an increase of 5.6 percentage points over the same period last year.
The new energy battery industry is an important focus of Yangquan's industrial transformation, with a number of related projects under construction in Zhangzhuang Industrial Park.
In terms of the new material industry, Yangquan High-tech Industrial Development Zone has accelerated the upgrading of the semiconductor material industry, focusing on sapphire industrial chain extension and supplementation and helping enterprises introduce new processes and break into new markets.
With the zone's support and help, Richangjing New Material Shanxi Co, the city's first enterprise mainly engaged in the research and development, manufacturing and sales of high-quality sapphire materials and products, generated an output value of 10.61 million yuan ($1.48 million), with a sales revenue of 5.34 million yuan, in the first quarter.
SDIC Pingding 100 megawatts photovoltaic power generation project also started construction, and projects such as the Shangshe pumped storage power station project in Yuxian county were included in the national medium and long-term development plan, which have helped optimize the city's energy structure.
Yangquan has also made great efforts to become more digital and smart by improving computing power infrastructure, speeding up the construction of the Yunfeng Big Data Center, and introducing autonomous driving projects.
