The city of Yangquan in North China's Shanxi province was recently selected by the Ministry of Transport as one of the 30 cities that will develop into a public transport demonstrative city during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25).
According to the requirements, Yangquan will focus on transforming itself into a public transport city with green travel. It will also utilize urban public transportation to accelerate its socioeconomic development.
Yangquan will continue to improve its policy and planning systems, increase investment in public transport development, and broaden funding resources for infrastructure construction.
The city plans to strengthen the protection of public transport land, explore new ways to utilize public transport land to make up for bus operation revenue, expand the introduction and training of professional talents, and deepen cooperation with international and domestic think tanks.
Yangquan is set to transform itself into a demonstrative city for public transport over the course of three years. By 2025, Yangquan will have built a safe, convenient, green urban public transport system that meets the acceptance requirements set by the Ministry of Transport.
