The city of Yangquan in North China's Shanxi province recently had four cultural relics sites recognized as provincial cultural relics sites related to the history of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

The sites include the Hundred Regiments Battle memorial area, Yangquan Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall, Hundred Regiments Battle relics site on Shinao Mountain, and the Monument to the Qigen Victory.

The announcement of the first 191 provincial cultural relic sites related to the history of the CPC is meant to help protect and manage these sites, and strengthen exploration and utilization so as to give full play to their important role in Party history education, revolutionary tradition education, and patriotism education. 

About the Yangquan Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall

The 3,160.6-square-meter Yangquan Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall in the middle section of Shinaoshan Road is an important tourist attraction and revolutionary education base in Yangquan.

The museum features exhibits with a variety of themes, such as martyrs and their heroic deeds during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) and model laborers who emerged after the founding of the People's Republic of China. 

About the Monument to the Qigen Victory

The monument in Qigen village, Pingding county is meant to commemorate mid-October 1937, when Liu Bocheng, commander of the 129th Division of the Eighth Route Army, led his troops to assist the Kuomintang troops in Niangzi Pass and twice successfully ambushed Japanese troops heading for Taiyuan.
