The Yangquan city government signed a strategic cooperation agreement with China Railway Express Co on June 16. 

Jiang Siqing, Party chief of Yangquan, said that the city is an important gateway for Shanxi's eastward integration into the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and is uniquely suited to the development of a logistics industry. 

Jiang hoped that China Railway Express Co will use its strength in technology, capacity, and market to accelerate the adjustment of local transportation structures and build Yangquan into a regional logistics hub in eastern Shanxi as well as a railway logistics distribution base that serves the whole country and links Europe and Asia. 

He also set the target for Yangquan to be a multimodal transport innovation base and a demonstration base serving the Belt and Road Initiative.

Zhou Hongyun, chairman of China Railway Express Co, said that the company will take the signing of the agreement as a new starting point and carry out comprehensive cooperation with Yangquan in railway express and multimodal transportation, helping the city optimize its comprehensive transportation structure and capacity. 

After the signing ceremony, participants witnessed the launch of an international combined transport system from Yangquan to Darhan, Mongolia.
