Yangquan aims to fly high in new aerospace materials
A meeting on new aerospace materials and low-carbon development was recently held in Yangquan city in North China's Shanxi province.
The meeting was sponsored by Aerospace Architectural Design and Research Institute Co, China Insulation and Energy Efficiency Materials Association and the government of Jiaoqu district in Yangquan.
During the event, more than 30 experts and academics in the field of new aerogel materials focused on the theme of aerogel insulation and energy saving -- discussing hot topics in the nanomaterials energy-saving industry, the wide application of aerogels, energy-saving and green industrial development.
The Aerospace Architectural Design and Research Institute Co signed cooperation agreements with the China Insulation and Energy Efficiency Materials Association and Luyang Energy-saving Materials Co, a business based in East China's Shandong province.
The attendees of the meeting visited the Yangquan branch of the Aerospace Architectural Design and Research Institute Co to gain a better understanding of the development of the new materials industry in Yangquan city.
The goal was to give them more ideas on technological innovation, market applications and industrial development models for new aerogel materials, against the background of China's move to carbon neutrality.
In recent years, Yangquan has accelerated its industrial transformation and upgraded seven major industrial sectors -- including new materials, new generation information technology, energy conservation and environmental protection.
In particular, the city has prioritized the new materials industry in terms of cultivating and expanding strategic emerging industries, with several new materials industrial clusters for aerogels, carbon nano-onions and artificial graphite established there.
In 2020, the added value of the city's new materials industry increased 9.9 percent year-on-year, while the value from this January to April grew 24.1 percent year-on-year.
