Yangquan explores tech innovation reform
Yangquan city in North China's Shanxi province has recently undertaken a series of measures to explore technological innovation reforms.
Aiming to resolve the current shortage of professionals and expertise, the city has initiated the establishment of the Taohe Scientific and Technological Innovation Think Tank.
This will be committed to coordinating intellectual resources -- both inside and outside Shanxi province -- and to establishing another high-end think tank for economic development.
Yangquan has moved to integrate various existing innovation platforms, as well as expanded and improved the quality of its two national and several provincial-level technology business incubators and maker spaces.
Focusing on the layout of the city's major industries and the development of its strategic emerging industries, Yangquan has systematically issued plans to build a featured industrial innovation chain with national development advantages.
For example, it will build an Aerogel Science and Technology City project -- for the aerogel industry supply chain -- and develop a new materials industrial cluster led by BTR New Materials Group, as well as a carbon-based industrial cluster facilitating production of diamonds and carbon nano onions from coalbed methane.
