The cultural and tourism market of Yangquan city in North China's Shanxi province was stable during the combined National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, which ran from Oct 1 to 8.

The city launched a series of themed cultural and tourism activities, including leisure tours, autumn sightseeing tours, cultural exhibitions and performances, to provide more experience options.

To stimulate consumption in the tourism market, 60 businesses in eight A-level scenic spots in the city participated in the government-led coupons campaign, allowing tourists to enjoy discounts when touring and purchasing goods at the scenic spots.

Village tours, self-driving tours and self-guided tours were popular among tourists during the eight-day holiday. Thirty-three villages in the city launched rural tourism activities, such as rural homestays, farming experiences and vegetable and fruit picking tours, attracting crowds from surrounding towns and provinces.

Yangquan's consumer goods market also showed promising growth during the holiday. The agricultural product wholesale markets across the city achieved sales of 6.99 million yuan ($1.04 million), a year-on-year increase of 9.87 percent. Meanwhile, local department stores generated 12.53 million yuan in sales, a year-on-year growth of 0.82 percent, and supermarkets saw sales of 3.45 million yuan, up 20.7 percent year-on-year.
