The fifth session of the 15th Yangquan Municipal People's Congress was held in Yangquan city in North China's Shanxi province on April 22-24, with 270 deputies reviewing the socioeconomic development and government work in the city in 2019 and planning it for the current year, according to local officials.

The session also reviewed the implementation of the various municipal budgets of Yangquan city in 2019. 

Officials said it passed resolutions for the city-level budgets for 2020, a resolution on the work report of the Standing Committee of Yangquan Municipal People's Congress, another on the work report of the Yangquan Intermediate People's Court and the resolution on the work report of the People's Procuratorate of Yangquan city.

Jiang Siqing, Party chief of Yangquan city, stressed several aspects of the city's development in 2020 during the session.

These included advancing industrial development and boosting project introduction and construction. 

Others included creating a better business environment, encouraging entrepreneurship, innovation and talent cultivation, furthering reform and transformation, promoting urban-rural coordinated development and helping with people's quality of life and standard of living.
