Tourism in Yangquan starts recovering

Updated: 2020-04-10

More citizens in Yangquan city in China's North Shanxi province visited scenic spots in the city during the three-day Qingming Festival holiday on April 4-6, due to the increasingly better improved novel coronavirus epidemic situation there, with local officials also reporting a recovery in the tourism market.

Officials said tourist attractions in the city reopened during the holiday and launched more than 20 special events for tourists and 12 themed activities, including folk customs activities, family entertainment and cultural and art shows.

Flower shows, garden visits, hiking, mountain climbing, spring fruit picking and praying for blessings were among the popular choices of tourists.

Local tourist businesses, however, were careful to strictly implement epidemic prevention and control measures during the festival.

These included real-name registration, temperature measurements at the entrance, non-contact ticket purchases and check-in, tourist visit controls and regular disinfection of public areas to control the density of visitors to the greatest extent while ensuring the quality of tourist services.

Officials said that due to these efforts -- before and during the holiday -- the number of village tours, self-drive tours and group tours in Yangquan city increased significantly during the break.
