A groundbreaking ceremony for a new industrial cluster in Yangquan city's Kuangqu district -- one of first 12 featured industrial clusters in Shanxi province -- was held on Nov 19.

Attending the ceremony were government officials from Yangquan city and Kuangqu district, representatives of Yangquan coal industry group, academics as well as business entrepreneurs.

The new industrial cluster will be located besides National Highway 307 in Kuangqu district. 

Officials said it will cover 6.7 square kilometers in total and mainly cater for the new materials, new energy and high-end intelligent equipment manufacturing industries. 

Officials added that the new industrial cluster will attract investment, promote technological innovation, as well as promote the transformation and upgrade of the district.
