Yangquan Experimental Secondary School, a junior high school directly under the municipal bureau of education, came into being from a part of the former Yangquan No 1 Middle School in April 2001. The school covers an area of 32,300 sq. m. and the gross floor area of 21,204 sq. m. There are 126 teachers, including 10 with master's degrees, 113 with bachelor's degrees and three with college degrees, as well as17 secondary school senior teachers. It runs 10 classes of each grade with 30 classes and 1,400 students in total.

Focused on moral education and cultivation, the school has grown its ideal of "laying the foundation for students' lifelong development". Significant achievements have been made in education and teaching.
