Yangquan No 15 High School (the former Sankuang High School) is located on Taonan West Street in the mining area, with Saiyu Bridge across the street. Founded in 1958, Yangquan No15 High School has been a Shanxi model high school offering both junior high school and senior high school education. There are over 3,500 students of 76 classes and 319 staff, including 289 professional & technical personnel and 92 senior teachers.

In the past 60 years, nearly 10,000 students have moved from the high school to nationwide institutes of higher learning, including two students of liberal arts with the top National College Entrance Examination (NCEE) scores in Shanxi in 1994 and 2008. Since 1996, the school has trained nine NCEE top-score students at provincial and city level, and 44 students were enrolled in Tsinghua University and Peking University.

The school has won successive honors for advanced collective group work in Shanxi, been named an advanced "safe school", a Yangquan "advanced collective" of ten-year basic education curriculum reform, an outstanding Yangquan regular high school for education and teaching, a model unit of "striving for excellence in serving the people", a Yangquan famous school on Education, an "Yangquan advanced unit of basic education informatization" among others.
