Established in August 1947, Shangzhan Primary School covers an area of 12,437 square meters with an office building, five teaching buildings and a full plastic and enclosed sports ground. Facilities, equipment and specialized classrooms used in the school meet the national standard. It has more than 2,400 students in 50 classes and 130 teaching staff among which two are senior high school teachers, 60 are senior primary school teachers, 70 are leading teachers in the district.

The school has won a number of honorable titles since its establishment.
