Baidu Cloud Computing (Yangquan) Center
The Baidu Cloud Computing (Yangquan) Center is located in the East District of the Yangquan Economic Development Zone, Shanxi Province, the hometown of Robin Li, founder of Baidu, the world's largest Chinese search engine. With a total construction area of 120,000 square meters in the first phase of the four-year construction cycle, the center ranks first in Asia in terms of data storage scale, computing power and environmental protection and energy conservation. The data storage capacity of the completed Baidu Cloud Computing (Yangquan) Center is over 4000PB, which is equivalent to the total collection capacity of more than 200,000 national libraries of China. At the same time, due to the use of Baidu's independently developed high-performance, low-power servers, the total number of CPUs in the data center is up to 700,000, and the total number of CPU cores exceeds 3 million. In addition, the data center uses a number of high-tech technologies that apply Chinese environmental regulations to enhance the energy efficiency of the overall data center, which can achieve energy conservation of about 43%, reaching the first-class level in Asia for green environmental protection.
As cloud computing becomes a main trend in the high-tech field, Baidu's daily data processing capacity has been the pioneer of this industry thanks to its reaching dozens of PB. After the completion, it will fully support Baidu's Internet business, realize the dynamic distribution of computing and storage, and further enhance the stability and reliability of Baidu data processing. The center will also offer package services such as Baidu Cloud Storage, a Cloud Operating System, the Baidu Application Engine (BAE), data analysis-based operation, cloud testing and so on.
The project is a key benchmark for the transformation and leapfrogging development of the province and municipality. Located in the Industrial Park of the Yangquan Development Zone, it covers an area of 360 mu and has a gross area of 91,000 square meters. The planned investment is 4.708 billion yuan, including 2.92 billion yuan for equipment and 1.788 billion yuan for infrastructure. The data storage capacity, computing power, and environmental protection and energy conservation of the data center is at the first-class level in Asia. The data center has eight computing modules with a total of 700,000 CPUs and 4,000 PB of storage capacity.
