Founded in October 1946, Pingding County People's Hospital is the only modern comprehensive upper second-class hospital in Pingding county, which integrates medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, first aid, prevention and healthcare, and rehabilitation.

The hospital covers an area of 31,762 sq. m. with gross floor area of 32,832 sq. m., and has fixed assets of 170 million yuan and 260 available sickbeds. Among 543 employees there are 471 professional technicians, 50 staff with senior professional titles and 110 with intermediate titles. 11 specialized wards and 46 departments of clinic, medical technology and function have been set up, among which nursing is the key subject of the province, city, and county, and neurology department is the specialist clinic of the city. 

It has also received honorary titles of "baby-friendly hospital", "advanced collective of medical and administrative work in the province", "advanced practitioner according to law among Shanxi health and medical institutions" and "civilized unit at the municipal level" successively awarded jointly by UNICEF, WHO and the Ministry of Health.
