Sanba Banquet is a type of feast only held to welcome a newly-married son-in-law in Pingding county, Yangquan, Shanxi province. 

Enjoying a strategic geographical position, Pingding had developed commerce and trade in ancient China. The recipe for the original feast came out in the Song (960-1279) and Jin (1115-1234) dynasties.

As a typical delicacy of Pingding cuisine, Sanba Banquet represents the top-notch feast in ordinary families and is the most important part in local wedding ceremonies.

After developing for a prolonged amount of time, it has become a unique tradition with its own style and rich cultural connotation.
