The Taiyuan bureau of culture and tourism launched a premium travel route on Dec 9, bringing together skiing, intangible cultural heritage, and local cuisine, inviting tourists to embark on a winter feast and cultural journey.
Day 1
Morning: Arrive in Taiyuan. Drive, take Bus No 852, or ride the Caiwei Skiing Express Line to Caiwei Ski Resort to enjoy skiing, snow tubing, and other winter activities.
Lunch: Dine at the resort's restaurant. Recommended dishes include mutton soup and beef noodles.
Afternoon: Drive or take Metro Line 2 to Daotian Park to experience snow tanks, ice slides, the rice field trains, and the Ferris wheels.
Evening: Visit Zhonglou Street to enjoy the blend of ancient charm and modern trends. Recommended dinner dishes include fried pork with sauce, sweet and sour meatballs, and Qingxu sausages.
Day 2
Morning: Enjoy breakfast at Qingheyuan, then visit Shanxi Museum to experience the region’s profound cultural heritage.
Lunch: Dine in the Changfeng Business District.
Afternoon: Visit Taiyuan Ancient County. Climb the city wall and tour the ancient county government office, Jinyang Ancient City Archaeological Museum, Confucian Temple, and the "Black Myth: Wu Kong – Ancient Architecture Digital Art Exhibition."
Evening: Taste local snacks in the ancient county, such as louyu (a type of noodle), Datong cold noodles, Linfen beef meatball noodles, and Jinyuan mutton soup.
Day 3
Morning: Visit the Jinyang Lake Beach Winter Carnival and experience snow tubing, snowmobiles, and family ice carts.
Lunch: Dine at Jinyangli.
Afternoon: Visit Jinshang Museum to learn about Jin merchants' history. Then head to Xiling Ski Resort for short-distance skiing.
Evening: Browse local specialty shops for Yangqu millet, Shanxi aged vinegar, Qingxu wine, and more. Try local snacks like Dandan noodles, pork intestines, and boiled beef tripe.
