Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, has unveiled four initiatives to boost the high-quality development of central Shanxi's Taiyuan, Jinzhong, Xinzhou, Lyuliang and Yangquan city clusters.
The first initiative is to create a transportation network for fast and efficient commuting. Taiyuan is accelerating the construction of major highways to reduce the travel time between the five cities to just one hour.
The second is building an industrial circle that fosters economic growth and innovation. The city aims to establish a sci-tech innovation hub by strengthening collaboration between "Jinchuanggu·Taiyuan" and "Jinchuanggu·Jinzhong".
The third is to build an ecological circle. Taiyuan is committed to protecting the Fenhe and Xiaohe river basins and addressing pollution in the Taiyu retention canal. The city is also working to implement the "1+30" regional air quality control mechanism, enhancing data sharing and joint environmental law enforcement.
The fourth initiative is to build a life circle that improves the quality of life for all residents. Plans include accelerating the central Shanxi city cluster water resource allocation project and establishing a cross-regional medical referral system, so that medical test results can be mutually recognized between cities.
