Metro Line 1 will commence operation on Feb 22 in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province.

The route will include 24 stations: Helongwan, Ximing Road, Xike, Jinyang Road, Yanjiagou (Xiaojingyu Road), Xiayuan, Taiyuan University of Technology, Taoyuan Road, Dananmen, Liunan, Wuyi Square, Taiyuan Railway Station West Square, Taiyuan Railway Station East Square, Haojiagou, Chaoyang Street, Shuangta, Nanshifang Street, Changfeng East Street, Xuefu East Street, Xutan East Street, Taiyuan South Railway, Beiying, Huangling, and Wusu Terminal 1 & 2.

Metro Line 1 conveniently transfers to Metro Line 2 at Dananmen Station. Its operational hours are 6:00 am to 10:50 pm from Helongwan Station to Wusu Terminal 1 & 2 Station and 6:00 am to 10:51 pm in the reverse direction.

The fare system for Metro Line 1 uses a distance-segmented pricing model. The starting fare is 2 yuan ($0.27) per person for the first 5 kilometers, with additional increments of 1 yuan for every subsequent distance segment of 5, 5, 6, 6, and 7 kilometers, respectively. There is no maximum fare cap.

Passengers who need to transfer should pay attention to the operational hours and follow the announcements and information on the electronic displays in stations and trains. Transfers do not require exiting the fare gates.
