The 2025 Taiyuan Marathon and 10 other domestic marathons have been confirmed as World Athletics Gold Label races in the latest update to the World Athletics 2025 event calendar.

According to the newly revised World Athletics road race regulations, starting in 2025, the global limit for Platinum Label marathons will be 12 events. Gold Label marathons will be limited to 25 events (with no restrictions on single-gender marathon events).

The 2025 Taiyuan Marathon will be held next year on Sept 21 in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province. It will become one of the 25 Gold Label marathons worldwide in 2025.

The Taiyuan Marathon began in 2010. It became a China Athletics Association Gold Label event in 2013 and was awarded the "Gold Label" by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) in 2019.

The 2024 Taiyuan Marathon attracted 40,000 participants from home and abroad. Among them, 13,000 competed in the full marathon, 16,000 in the half-marathon, 5,000 in the mini marathon, and 6,000 in the family fun run.

The total number of registrations was over 120,000, setting new records.
