The Shanxi Tourism Development · Splendid Taiyuan Culture and Tourism Promotion Event was held at Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, on July 25.

The event was attended by representatives from 12 countries, including Iceland, Colombia and Albania, personnel from Shanxi's culture and tourism industry, representatives from Hong Kong and Macao's tourism sectors, and representatives from major travel agencies and tourist attractions in Shanxi, as well as more than 50 media representatives.

The event featured presentations and exchanges between the four Shanxi cities, namely, Taiyuan, Jinzhong, Jincheng, and Yuncheng, and representatives from participating countries, including Iceland, Colombia, Albania and the United States.

Taiyuan highlighted its cultural and historical heritage, diverse cuisine, summer tourism options, and urban development. Jinzhong showcased its natural scenery, ancient cities, and tea route heritage. Jincheng presented its long history and cultural attractions through a promotional video. Yuncheng introduced six unique tourist routes, showcasing its natural beauty and 5,000 years of culture.

"I am honored to be here in Taiyuan and share my country, Iceland, with everyone," said the Icelandic Ambassador to China, Thorir Ibsen, who introduced the country's location, natural environment, and unique tourism attractions. He also expressed hope for a direct flight route between Iceland and China in the near future, ideally within the next year.

Ambassadors and tourism officials from Albania, Colombia, Cambodia, and the US also presented their countries' tourism offerings and shared information on accessing travel resources.
