A flight between Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, and Cheongju, South Korea, opened on July 1. This marks the first South Korean route to resume operations at Taiyuan Wusu International Airport this year.
The route is operated by Juneyao Airlines and uses an Airbus A320 aircraft. Flight HO1653 departs Taiyuan at 16:25 and arrives in Cheongju at 18:45. The return flight, HO1654, departs Cheongju at 19:50 and arrives in Taiyuan at 22:30.
Since the beginning of this year, Taiyuan Wusu International Airport has conducted discussions and negotiations with multiple airlines, selected optimal operators, and worked closely with them to secure flight resources, ensuring the timely opening of this route.
The opening of the Cheongju route is expected to enhance Shanxi’s international connectivity, integrate passenger and cargo resources, promote market recovery, and meet various needs related to trade, tourism, and business between the two regions.
With ongoing improvements in international travel policies and increased willingness among travelers to take international trips, Taiyuan Wusu International Airport continues to enhance its international route network.
So far, it has opened five international routes to Bangkok, Nha Trang, Cheongju, Moscow, and Sydney. Looking ahead, the airport will continue to develop international routes and open more flights to Japan, Southeast Asia, and other areas.
