Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, has implemented new policies to protect its cultural heritage in recent years. It aims to become an internationally renowned cultural tourism destination with a focus on museums.
Taiyuan is boosting the integrated development of culture and tourism, empowering innovation through technology, enhancing the management of cultural heritage, and preserving history.
So far, the city has established the Taiyuan Northern Qi Mural Museum and the Jinyang Ancient City Archaeological Museum to preserve urban history and create new cultural landmarks.
The Taiyuan City Museum and Jinci Museum were listed as national first-level museums, significantly enhancing quality and leadership in museum construction in the city.
Taiyuan is currently home to 101 museums, forming a distinctive and fully functional museum network. So far, the city has launched over 120 special exhibitions and more than 2,200 educational activities, with increasing public enthusiasm for museums.
Leading international initiatives such as the digital reconstruction exhibition tour of the Tianlongshan Grottoes have gone global to promote Shanxi's cultural influence worldwide.
The city also focuses on utilizing cultural relics innovatively, promoting cultural innovation and openness and enhancing the public's engagement with history and culture through various initiatives and collaborations.
