Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, is working to accelerate its development into a hub for opening-up, as revealed at a news conference held on June 4.

To develop a high-level platform for opening-up in inland regions, Taiyuan has outlined the following five key areas of focus.

First, adhering to regional development strategies, Taiyuan will carry out the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, enhance links with the Yangtze River Economic Belt and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and cooperate with Hohhot, Baotou and Yinchuan.

Second, it will accelerate the construction of comprehensive transportation infrastructure. This includes expanding and upgrading phase III of Taiyuan Wusu International Airport, renovating Yaocheng General Airport, and building Yangqu General Airport.

Additionally, Taiyuan will advance major railway infrastructure projects such as the Taiyuan-Suizhou High-speed Railway, the Datong-Xi'an High-Speed Railway, and the Shijiazhuang-Taiyuan Expressway.

Third, it will establish high-level platforms for opening-up. It will plan for the Taiyuan airport economic zone, expand the air route network between Taiyuan and major domestic and international cities, and develop an aviation industry relying on its airports.

Fourth, it will accelerate its development into a national logistics hub. It will utilize national policies to enhance industrial chains, optimize the development of a modern logistics industry, and build four national gateway logistics hubs.

Finally, is will continuously expand the scale of foreign investment and foreign trade. It has invited enterprises to participate in international exhibitions, protect the legitimate rights and interests of foreign investors, and encourage high-quality foreign trade enterprises to invest in Taiyuan.
